Where to Watch Live Sports in Long Beach

And the bar will be raised in 2026 as the city welcomes a new professional baseball team and makes tickets available for the 11 events it will host during the 2028 Summer Olympics. 2028 SUMMER OLYMPICS TICKET REGISTRATION
Long Beach will stage 11 Olympic events during the 2028 Summer Games—more than any city outside of Los Angeles itself. Events will be spread across easy-to-reach locations: Marine Stadium (rowing, canoe sprint, coastal rowing), Alamitos Beach (beach volleyball), Belmont Shore (sailing events, marathon swimming) and the Long Beach Convention Center area (artistic swimming, water polo, shooting, sport climbing) and Long Beach Aquatics Center (additional aquatics).
Because many of these venues are clustered downtown and along the shoreline, spectators will be within walking distance or a short ride of dozens of local hotels, restaurants, and transit options. Fans can register for Olympic tickets through the official LA28 website starting Jan. 14, 2026. Registration runs through March 18, 2026, and selected registrants will be assigned time slots to buy Olympic event tickets later that year.
FORMULA DRIFT
The Formula DRIFT Championship takes over Long Beach twice in 2026, cementing its place as one of the city’s most popular sporting events.The action, which takes place on a downtown course around the Long Beach Beach Convention Center, begins April 10 and 11 as the PRO season opener hits the streets of Long Beach a week before the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. The championship then returns October 23 and 24 for the PRO finale, i.e. the Long Beach Shoreline Showdown. This is when season titles are decided and fans can expect high-speed, close-quarters drifting on the legendary downtown street circuit, delivering smoke-filled battles, precision driving, and a thrilling bookend to the PRO season.
CAL STATE LONG BEACH
Cal State Long Beach has a long history of athletic excellence, producing national champions and numerous professional and Olympic athletes such as the iconic Misty May-Treanor. That excellence is regularly on display on and around campus. Men’s and women’s volleyball, with a combined nine NCAA championships–the men’s squad are defending national champs–play inside the LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid (1250 N Bellflower Blvd). The men’s and women’s basketball teams also call the Pyramid home, delivering fast-paced games for passionate crowds.
The legendary Dirtbags baseball team, which has produced the likes of Jered Weaver, Jason Giambi and Evan Longoria, brings tradition and toughness to Bohl Diamond at Blair Field (4700 Deukmejian Dr), a classic venue known for great sightlines. Nearby, the women’s softball team competes at the LBSU Softball Complex, making every matchup exciting for fans seeking Beach pride throughout the year for everyone everywhere. ACURA GRAND PRIX OF LONG BEACH
The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach–held April 17-19 in 2026–is arguably Long Beach’s signature annual event, transforming Downtown Long Beach into a high-speed racing festival. While the IndyCar race is the centerpiece–trailing only the Indy 500 in prestige–fans are also able to enjoy sports car races. historic car showcases and spectacular truck racing. Beyond racing, the weekend features fan zones, driver meet-and-greets, live entertainment and food experiences, all of it creating a festival atmosphere that regularly attracts fans in the hundreds of thousands for the weekend. With views from waterfront stands, street-side vantage points or the lively finish line plaza, spectators can soak up the intensity, speed and excitement of one of America’s premier sporting events.
US SUMO OPEN
The 26th Annual US Sumo Open returns May 9, 2026, to the LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid at CSU Long Beach (1250 Bellflower Blvd). For 26 consecutive years, it has been the largest sumo tournament in North America, showcasing the highest level of international competition outside Japan. Fans will experience nonstop matches featuring 60 elite wrestlers from 13 countries, including World Sumo Champions and decorated professional veterans. They will also enjoy taiko drumming along with Japanese food and culture. The US Sumo Open has launched legends, bridged amateur and professional sumo, and pioneered milestones in the sport’s global growth. Tickets go on sale in March.
LONG BEACH MARATHON
The 2026 Long Beach Marathon weekend promises excitement for runners and spectators alike, with events including the full marathon, half marathon, 5K, and bike tour. Held along the city’s scenic streets and waterfront, fans can cheer on participants from Downtown start lines to the lively finish festival, complete with music, food and family-friendly activities.
