Musica Angelica: Quattrocento "Four Centuries of Italian Music"
October 18, 7:30pm
Musica Angelica, renowned period instrument early music ensemble based in Long Beach, presents Quattrocento "Four Centuries of Italian Music."
"Sprezzatura" is an Italian term meaning effortless mastery or the art of making something difficult look easy -- directed by Gonzalo Ruiz, this program displays such a virtue in spades over a vibrant journey from early Baroque pearls by Francesca Caccini and Isabella Leonarda, through tempestuous instrumental works of Antonio Vivaldi and Gioachino Rossini, then offering (without refusal) modern cinematic themes from Nino Rota.
Patrons are invited to a hosted pre-reception from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM, hors d'oeuvres & beverages will be served. Quattrocento "Four Centuries of Italian Music" will start at 7:30 PM in the Sanctuary.
