Shakespeare by the Sea: Julius Caesar
June 20 to June 21
Shakespeare by the Sea will present Shakespeare's Julius Caesar in a production adapted and directed by Stephanie Coltrin.
Performances will be held at the Band Shell at Recreation Park, which offers ample bench seating and a grass lawn for picnics. Admission is free, no tickets required.
Loyalties are tested in Shakespeare’s exploration of the definition of honor, the agony of decision and the cost of crossing to the point of no return.
A Southern California premiere, this production of Julius Caesar is in partnership with Play On Shakespeare, a non-profit company dedicated to promoting and creating contemporary modern English translations of Shakespeare’s plays. The SBTS production will present an adaptation of Shishir Kurup’s modern-verse translation of the play that breathes new life into the Bard’s words—offering clarity without compromise.
