HISTORY & BACKGROUND
Long Beach Food Scene got its start as a Facebook group run by local food journalist Brian Addison. With nearly two decades of experience as a journalist in Long Beach, Addison covers food, culture, events, and development in Long Beach on his website, Longbeachize.com. The Facebook group is an active message board where nearly 84,000 local food enthusiasts discuss their experiences at restaurants, exchange recommendations, and share news about openings and closures. Addison has parlayed the group’s popularity into public events like Long Beach Food Scene Week and Last Call, which celebrates local bars.
