Long Beach is one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse big cities in America, as recognized by the U.S. Census. The city boasts residents from every continent on the planet, except perhaps Antarctica. Residents of Cambodian descent account for about 4% of Long Beach’s 486,000 total population. Long Beach has the largest concentration of Cambodians of any city outside of Cambodia.
To recognize this sizable and dynamic community within the Long Beach community, the Long Beach City Council voted to grant the official name, Cambodia Town, to a 1.2-mile business corridor along Anaheim Street, between Atlantic and Junipero Avenues. Along this stretch, you’ll find dozens of Khmer-owned businesses, bridal shops, jewelry stores, restaurants, and temples.
