Sweat at Long Beach Playhouse
July 20 to August 17
By Lynn Nottage
Playing in the Long Beach Playhouse's Studio Theater
Keenly observed and filled with warm humor and tremendous heart, SWEAT tells the story of a group of friends who have spent their lives sharing drinks, secrets, and laughs while working together on the factory floor in the Rust Belt of Reading, Pennsylvania. But when layoffs and picket lines begin to chip away at their trust, the friends find themselves pitted against each other in a heart-wrenching fight to stay afloat. This Pulitzer Prize winning drama by Lynn Nottage is a masterful depiction of the forces that divide and conquer us, where there’s humor, abundant humility, and a story that never feels less than authentic.
This production of SWEAT at the Long Beach Playhouse is partially sponsored by the Port of Long Beach.
