RuMBa Foundation Family Concert: Carnival of the Animals Remix

The Long Beach Symphony will present Carnival of the Animals at the Long Beach Terrace Theater in its RuMBA Foundation Family Concert Series.
From 1-3pm and 4-5pm, enjoy an instrument petting zoo, musical games and performances, arts and crafts, and creative play.
At 3pm, a family-friendly concert will include a presentation about symphony instruments, sing-alongs, stories, and dance will entertain children of all ages!
This free festival-style event will be filled with activities, live music, interactive booths, and kid-friendly food. Children will enjoy playing with symphonic musical instruments at the “instrument petting zoo,” crafting their own batons for “Conducting 101” with our assistant conductors, arts and crafts hosted by Long Beach Public Library, “Acting Out” with Jewel Box Children’s Theater, photos with Orange Photobooth, lawn games, and more! Children are encouraged to come in their favorite animal costume!At 3PM, the Terrace Theater will open for children of all ages to enjoy an interactive, educational, and playful presentation by Maestro Eckart Preu, featuring an original remix of Saint-Saëns's humorous and enthusiastic masterpiece “The Carnival of the Animals.” The stage will be filled with Long Beach Symphony musicians, dancers, and performers. The music will capture the many cultural corners of our Long Beach community, with rapper Lox Chatterbox, and “The Eagle” featuring Native-American Wild Horses Singers, “The Kinnari” featuring members of Ho Chan’s Cambodian Pin Peat Ensemble, “The Panda” featuring famous Chinese Erhu player, Karen Han, “The Swan” featuring Gaia Clark on Cello with ballerina Aurora Gray, “The Lizard” featuring Steel Drums by Dave Gerhart, “The Lion” featuring Dembrebrah African Drum & Dance Ensemble, and “La Culebra” or “The Cobra” featuring Mariachi. It will conclude as all these sounds come together as a true carnival! Join in the fun and learn about all the different sights and sounds that make up an orchestra.
Kids get in free. Adults (18+), $20. Long Beach Transit is kindly providing free transportation from the Mark Twain and Michelle Obama Libraries. This concert is made possible by a multi-year grant from THE RUMBA FOUNDATION OF LONG BEACH.
