Common Ground: A Benefit Day of Art, Music, Food & Wellness
May 17, 11:00am
Join a day filled with music, art, healing, and culinary delights as we come together to raise funds for evacuees of the Eaton Fire in Altadena and Hurricane Helene in Appalachia.
The day kicks off at 11am with a Kundalini meditation* by Kelsea Mazzocco followed by a 12pm theta heart meditation and sound experience* by noted musician, composer, and sound healer Farmer Dave Scher (Beachwood Sparks) who is traveling back to his hometown of Long Beach for this special event. Farmer Dave, David Ralicke (Dengue Fever), Adam Topol (Jack Johnson), and DJ Dennis Owens (Good Foot!) will grace the main stage from 1–3pm. All-day collage-making accompanies the exhibition Fay Ray: Puerperal, and custom artwork from Appalachian artist Anna Bryant and L.A. artist Emily Kiwa Tanaka will be screen printed* onto t-shirts and canvas bags by Long Beach’s Open Gallery.
Reservations for Union can be made here, or stop in day-of to grab a drink or bite at the bar. Walking, bicycling, and public transit are encouraged, and a free bike valet will be provided by Pedal Movement.
All ages and free to the public. Event proceeds from the ticketed meditations, screen-printed swag, and noted food, drink and gift shop sales will benefit the flooded town of Marshall, NC, through the Marshall Relief Fund and low-income Altadenans through Letters Charity.
Can’t attend the event but want to donate to the causes? Donate here and write “May 17 event” in the “Write us a comment” section. Thank you for supporting Altadena and Appalachia!
*These activities require an additional ticket, all proceeds go to the charities noted.
