Celebrate Lunar New Year in Long Beach

Happy Lunar New Year! Lunar New Year is celebrated across Asia and is tied to animals from the zodiac. Festivities vary across cultures, but often include gathering family for celebratory meals, fireworks, and gift giving. Here are some of the events taking place around Long Beach celebrating the Year of the Horse.

February 21, 2026

2ND & PCH (6400 Pacific Coast Hwy) will present a Lunar New Year Celebration filled with cultural festivities and community spirit on February 21 from 12 noon to 4 PM. The celebration includes live entertainment throughout the afternoon, including Chinese lion dancers, Japanese taiko drummers, traditional Cambodian dancers, Bollywood dancers, and martial arts demonstrations. See an origami demonstration and participate in a paper craft station. Kids can also enjoy stations to make buttons and build Lego creations. Hear from special guest speakers, including Richer San, Board Chair of Sister Cities of Long Beach, and Susan Redfield, President of Sister Cities of Long Beach. Before and after the celebration, guests can shop, dine, and explore at 2ND & PCH.

Tết ​‘N Wild at ISM Brewing

ISM Brewing (210 E 3rd St) on The Promenade in Downtown Long Beach will host its second annual Viet Lunar New Year Celebration on February 21, from 3 to 9 PM. This pop-up will feature a special menu collab with Angie Ngo (@yesangiengo) and her bún bò huế flavored wings, plus a tropical Saigon Seltzer. Mobile oyster bar @loquatoysters will be there, along with artwork by @tinabhung.

INTERTREND

For 10 years, Intertrend (228 E Broadway), an international marketing and communications agency, has created one-of-a-kind, interactive installations at its Long Beach office to honor the Lunar New Year. This year, the agency’s Creative Class Collective will unveil its installation celebrating the Year of the Horse on the evening of February 9, and it will remain on public view throughout the month following. The installation features a multi-player horse racing game--simply scan the posted QR code to play with a friend for the chance to claim a spot on the leaderboard and win a surprise bag.

EARL BURNS MILLER JAPANESE GARDEN

The Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden (Earl Warren Dr) is hosting its annual New Year Sekku Festival on January 25 featuring crafts, music, and family fun to celebrate Year of the Horse. Located on the campus of Cal State Long Beach, the garden presents the perfect setting for immersing yourself in Japanese culture and honoring the Lunar New Year with this special event.

BRUSHSTROKES + BEVERAGES

January 28 & 29, 2026

Learn how to paint a “Year of the Horse” painting step by step at Brushstrokes + Beverages Studio (501 E Broadway) on Jan. 28 at 7PM. Located in the heart of the East Village Arts District, Brushstrokes + Beverages will provide all materials included with the $40 per person fee. You can bring your own food and beverages, though alcohol will not be allowed during the event. Or, join Brushstrokes + Beverages at Olive & Rose (255 Atlantic Ave) on Jan. 29 at 7PM for their 21+ only event. Tickets and information available here.
