Located next door to Trademark Brewing, Long Beach Rising (205 E Anaheim St) offers a great space for new climbers to explore the sport. With a massive room filled with bouldering walls, the gym offers daily introductory classes in a welcoming community hub for beginners and pros alike. Their fitness space also hosts yoga, pole dancing and fitness classes–heck, they’ll even host your kid’s birthday party. A variety of short-term passes is available, as well as longer-term memberships. Plus, their special events blend climbing and socializing, with film screenings, DJs, food and more.
HANGAR 18
This climbing gym in Signal Hill features 12,000 square feet of space, lined with climbing walls where you can practice top-rope climbing, use auto-belays if you’re practicing on your own, and get into bouldering without ropes. Hangar 18 (2599 E Willow St) offers monthly and annual memberships, for both individuals and families, as well as climbing classes. First-time visitors complete an intro climbing class, then are able to access the climbing walls, training area and yoga room.
SENDER ONE
Sender One (4949 Lakewood Blvd) is located near the Long Beach Airport and offers climbing, yoga and fitness. Their 29,000-square-foot facility houses walls for both top-rope climbing and bouldering, plus Sender City, a colorful climbing center catering to kids–birthday parties and annual passes are available.
