Dan Gurney has made a tremendous mark on motorsports as a driver, team owner, racecar manufacturer, and inventor.
In 1974 he co-founded the Long Beach Grand Prix, and served on its Board of Directors for 24 years. During his 15-year racing career, he competed in 312 events in 20 countries, winning 51 races and becoming the first driver to post wins in the Grand Prix, Indy Car, NASCAR and Sports Cars series.
As the owner of All American Racers (AAR), a racing team that also built race cars, Gurney's victory in the 1967 Grand Prix of Belgium in an Eagle Gurney-Weslake V12 was the first and only time that an American driver won a World Championship F1 race in a car that he built.
