Bobby Rahal is one of the very few individuals to have won the Indianapolis 500 both as driver and owner.
He drove to victory in 1986 and was co-owner of Buddy Rice's winning car in 2004.
He is the last owner-driver to win the IndyCar Championship. Rahal achieved success in Formula One and the CART open wheel series. Between 1982 and 1992, he won 24 National Championship races, capturing the Championship Auto Racing Team's seasonal title in 1986, 1987 and 1992. Rahal was victorious on road courses as well as ovals, winning several SCCA championships. He shared the winning car in the 24-Hour Daytona in 1981 and the 12-Hour Sebring in 1987. Rahal is currently co-owner of Rahal Letterman Racing in partnership with David Letterman.
