Long Beach Camerata Singers: Peace Project VII - "The Worth of Water" Concert

What is the Peace Project?
The Peace Project, a social-justice themed concert. On October 8th, 2023, we kick off a two-year cycle examining Environmental Justice. This year the theme is “The Worth of Water.”
All of the music for the concert will refer to water in its libretto. For example, the repertoire will include Samuel Barber’s “To Be Sung on the Water,” “The Prow” by local composer Matthew Lyon Hazzard, and the traditional folk tune, “Oh Shenandoah; The Wide Missouri,” among others. The music will be performed by a chorus of approximately 80 members. The Peace Project is distinguished by being a narrated concert. The narrator for Peace Project 7 “The Worth of Water” will be California State Assembly Member Josh Lowenthal.

What is the Enviro-Arts Fair?
Before the concert, the Long Beach Camerata Singers will be holding a free Enviro-Arts Fair in the Long Beach Arena featuring exhibitors from various organizations that will offer information about the environmental issues and science around water usage, water pollution and water conservation. In addition there will be an opportunity for local schools, organizations and artistic collaborators for art-making activities, artistic exhibits, and on stage performances. Possibilities include music, vocals, theatre, dance, storytelling, poetry readings, and visual displays. Performance Time limit: 15 minutes.
