Be the Light

“Be the Light” introduces a new and exciting format for Downtown Long Beach, a storefront art illumination. This vibrant and colorful exhibition will be viewed solely from the sidewalk outside of 375 The Promenade N., and will provide a delightful parade of colorful creatures for passersby. It’s a continuation of Loiter Galleries’ and the DTLB Alliance’s shared mission to fill vacant storefronts with art and optimism.

The animation for “Be the Light”, called “The Parade”, is a collaboration between The Fox, The Folks; Kati Angelov; and the Cypress College Media Arts Design department. The projection installation is by Kati Angelov and Abdul Meelar.

The Fox, The Folks is a multimedia art team with expertise primarily in, but not limited to, 2D animation and storytelling. Their goal is to bring fresh, innovative visuals to tell a story that everyone can enjoy, world-wide. Co-creators from the Cypress College Media Arts Design Dept. bring their shared love of art and creation to the project. Under the guidance of Department Chair Kati Angelov, they unite to bring a marriage of art and technology, resulting in a magical new world of visual experience.

“Be The Light" was commissioned by Mosaic in downtown Long Beach. This illumination show will come alive on Nov. 30, at 5 PM, and will run nightly, from 4:30 PM to midnight, through the New Year.
