LONG BEACH AREA CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU The Long Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is the official organization for convention and tourism marketing in the Long Beach area. Established in 1982, the LBACVB is a private non-profit organization funded by city hotel bed tax and membership contributions from over 400 area businesses and community organizations. The mission of the Bureau is to contribute to the economic development of the city of Long Beach by selling, marketing and promoting Long Beach as a destination for conventions, meetings, tradeshows and tourism. Every business in Long Beach benefits from a strong convention and hospitality industry. For example, one year after its $111 million expansion, the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center generated more than $250 million in economic benefits for the city and area businesses. The Bureau continues to direct its aggressive sales and marketing efforts to the "people movers;" the meeting planners, travel agents, tour operators and travel journalists who directly influence a visitor's choice in planning a convention or vacation. Approximately five million visitors travel to Long Beach each year, creating nearly $343 million in direct visitor expenditures, thus making tourism one of the city's most lucrative industries. Through a variety of benefits, members are kept informed of business prospects, marketing opportunities and industry news and trends. Members gain the most when they are actively involved and take advantage of member events and marketing opportunities. The Bureau is staffed by a team of experienced sales and marketing professionals in four major disciplines – Membership, Marketing, Convention Sales and Convention Services. A board of 27 local business leaders provides policy guidance to the organization. LBACVB members represent all facets of the hospitality industry and the Long Beach community, including arts and cultural organizations, attractions, dining, entertainment, hotels, businesses and transportation.
To contribute to the economic development of the City of Long Beach by selling, marketing and promoting Long Beach as a destination for meetings, conventions, tradeshows and tourism. This mission statement charges the LBACVB with driving demand for Long Beach product(s) in the travel marketplace sufficient to create new revenue for businesses and increase sales tax and Transient Occupancy Tax for the city's General Fund. The Bureau's Board of Directors and its employees see a very direct line between our work and its ability to favorably impact the lives of our city's residents. The tourism industry supports project developments that provide education and entertainment opportunities; creates thousands of well-paying jobs and new training; stimulates fresh revenue streams for hundreds of small and medium sized, locally owned businesses throughout the city; and helps fuel significant increases in tax revenue which is invested back into improving our neighborhoods, parks, city infrastructure and programs for our citizens. VISION STATEMENT We are an energetic and innovative organization of talented and dedicated professionals who fulfill the Bureau's Mission Statement by setting high performance standards and expectations, setting and achieving goals, integrating the Bureau's work with its community, creating and maintaining productive partnerships with the public and private sector and serving as a reliable and credible source for Long Beach's tourism industry partners and clients.
