Tyler Johnes, a self-obsessed movie star, is finally nominated for an Oscar--but dies the night before the awards.  Outraged at his bad luck and determined to know if he wins, he bargains with aheavenly gatekeeper to return to earth for the big nights.  A wildly twisting tale of Hollywood, the afterlife, and how we are judged.  This play will be performed at the Long Beach Playhouse in the Studio Theatre.  Sunday Matinees January 17, 24, 31 & Feb 7.

There are designated seatings on Sunday, February 14, at 4:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m with regular seating on Friday, February 12 and Saturday, February 13. Reservations are highly recommended but for the spontaneous at heart, walk-ins are always welcome.  Dinner will be served until 11:00 pm on all three nights.

The sound of bagpipes and brogues will fill the ship and surrounding seaport during
one of Southern California’s largest celebrations of Scottish culture. Highland dancing, bagpipe bands and sheep-herding dogs are a sampling of what awaits at the Queen Mary Scottish Festival on Feb. 13 and 14 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Long Beach.
Built on the banks of the River Clyde in Scotland over 75 years ago, the Queen Mary celebrates her Scottish heritage with this annual festival of Scottish music, dance, sport and traditional food and drink.  The program features a Scottish Highland athletics competition, dart tournament, continuous dance and musical performances as well as whiskey tastings and seminars throughout the day. Adult admission is $20 per day or $26 for a two-day pass. Children five through 11 are $13 per day or $17 for a two-day pass. In addition to the festival events, admission includes Self-Guided Shipwalk Tour, "Ghosts & Legends" interactive special-effects show (subject to availability) and "Treasures from the Queen Mary Archive" exhibit.  The World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour is a new kind of event that showcases the hobby of model railroading. Sponsored by the Hobby Manufacturers Association - Model Railroad Division and by the World’s Greatest Hobby Program, the show is intended to introduce the general public to model railroading in an entertaining, lively and family-friendly atmosphere. There will be hands on operating railroads for both children and adults. The show hopes to create new train enthusiasts by exposing the public to the very best model railroading has to offer. The hobby of model railroading has a unique ability to bring the family together in activities that teach many skills. Model railroad skills span from carpentry to artistry, from electrical engineering to historical research. Model railroading is the World’s Greatest Hobby.

The Art Walk takes place around the streets of Ocean Blvd, Linden Ave, 1st Street, Broadway and Elm. Local art galleries and retail businesses such as gift shops, boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops stay open until late evening. Linden Avenue is closed to the traffic and transformed into a street art fair by local artists. Two stages are dedicated to street performances and live music. Anyone is welcome. 2nd Saturday Art Walks hours are from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Admission is free. Parking is available in nearby structures and parking lots for about $4.00/day or...  free by chance on nearby streets.
The greatest attraction of this event is it's unique items and works of art in combination with paintings, sculpture, photography, crafts and hands-on workshops mixed with theatre and dance. The 2nd Saturday Art Walk offers kids, as well as adults, entertainment and an opportunity to create their own master-pieces.
